Galasso Library
On July 14, 2022, a "library loan agreement" was signed between the heirs of the Socio Linceo Giuseppe Galasso (1929-2018) and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, under which the entire library of the illustrious historian of the Kingdom of Naples and the South, already kept in the apartment of Pozzuoli, was transferred to Rome, partly in two specially designed rooms, partly in a bookstore. It is an impressive book collection, both for the quality of the titles that are part of it, and for the quantity of the volumes present in it: about 35,000 physical units, including monographs, mostly modern (which make up the majority of the collection), periodicals, extracts. The library includes in particolare volumi di storia, soprattutto inerenti al Regno di Napoli, letteratura, filosofia e sociologia.
The Centro Linceo di Studi sul Mezzogiorno “Giuseppe Galasso,” aimed at fostering meridionalist studies and promoting knowledge of the fundamental themes of the “southern question,” the privileged subject of studies by Member Giuseppe Galasso, is annexed to the library.
On October 20, 2023, the library and the Centro Linceo di Studi sul Mezzogiorno “Giuseppe Galasso” were inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Republic Segio Mattarella, the President of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei Roberto Antonelli, the lincei members Andrea Giardina and Luigi Mascilli Migliorini, and the children of prof. Galasso.
