Profile
Raffaele Dello Ioio is a Professor of Plant Molecular Biology at the University of Rome "Sapienza." He obtained his PhD at the same university, where he made a significant contribution to understanding cellular differentiation in plants. He then continued his postdoctoral training with Prof. Miltos Tsiantis, first at the University of Oxford and later at the Max Planck Institute in Cologne. During this period, he studied the role of microRNAs in root development and the molecular mechanisms underlying the morphological variability of leaves. In 2014, with the support of an FIRB grant, he founded an independent research group at the University of Rome "Sapienza," focusing on the molecular mechanisms regulating inter- and intraspecific variability in root patterning. His scientific contributions earned him the prestigious Feltrinelli Prize in 2019.
