Peter Zoller is Professor at the University of Innsbruck and group leader at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) of the Austria Academy of Sciences. He works on quantum optics and quantum information and is best known for his pioneering research on quantum computing and quantum communication and for bridging quantum optics and solid state physics. As a theoretician, Zoller has written major works on the interaction of laser light and atoms. His ideas and concepts attract plenty of interest within the scientific community and his works are highly cited. Peter Zoller has received numerous awards for his achievements including the Wolf Prize, Benjamin Franklin Medal, the Max Planck Medal and the Micius Prize.
