The Chamber of Deputies and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei are strengthening dialogue between the worlds of research and institutions through the first edition of the Chamber of Deputies Award, established under the collaboration protocol signed on 5 December 2024 by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, and the President of the Accademia dei Lincei, Roberto Antonelli.
The Award forms part of a broader joint programme of cultural and scientific initiatives aimed at fostering informed reflection on the transformations shaping contemporary society and on the role of democratic institutions in governing innovation. Within this framework, particular emphasis is placed on the contribution of younger generations of scholars, who are encouraged to address present-day challenges through an interdisciplinary approach.
Open to PhD candidates and holders of a master’s degree, the Award seeks to promote studies and research that integrate legal, economic, philosophical, and scientific perspectives, offering original insights into the relationship between knowledge, public decision-making, and the future of democracy.
Applicants are eligible if they have defended a thesis on the topic specified for each edition within the previous five years. The initiative aims to support the further development of the winning research, encourage its dissemination and potential publication, and establish a tangible link between academic scholarship and institutional practice.
The deadline for the submission of applications for the first edition of the Award is 31 March 2026. The selection process will be overseen by a committee composed of representatives of the Chamber of Deputies and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
The award ceremony will take place during the opening session of the 2026–2027 academic year of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, underscoring the importance attributed to the contribution of young scholars in strengthening dialogue between science, knowledge, and institutions. The winning research will also be presented at a public event hosted by the Chamber of Deputies.
