Ambrogio Fasoli is the Programme Manager (CEO) the European Consortium for Fusion Energy, EUROfusion, a Professor of Physics and member of the Direction of the Swiss Plasma Center at EPFL, and the Delegate to the Provost for Research at EPFL.
Ambrogio Fasoli, Fellow of the American Physical Society and member of Academia Europaea, studied at the University of Milan and obtained his Ph.D. at EPFL. Then, after leading experiments on the European JET tokamak at Oxford, in the UK, became a professor of physics at MIT, in the US, where he worked from 1997 to 2001, before being appointed at EPFL. From 2014 through 2020 he was the Editor-in-Chief of the IAEA Nuclear Fusion journal, from 2015 was the Director of the Swiss Plasma Center, and from 2021 through 2024 the Associate Vice-President for Research of EPFL.
Professor Fasoli has published more than 400 peer reviewed articles in international journals, mostly in the fields of plasma physics, astrophysics and fusion, and is member or chair of numerous national and international panels, in several European countries, US, Japan, India and China, on education and research, in particular in the field of energy and fusion physics and technology.
