Addressing the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic in low-and middle-income countries
A meeting convened by the Academy of Medical Sciences on 15-18 June 2020
The meeting brought together leaders from several low- and middle-income countries across the world - Malaysia, Philippines, India, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Brazil and Argentina - to explore public health; social and behavioural; and clinical responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting highlighted the profound impact of COVID-19 globally, and explored opportunities for countries to improve response and increase preparedness in future, particularly via:
• International interdisciplinary collaboration
• Innovation and adaption
• Leadership, evidence and trust
