Profile
Full Professor of Mathematics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), Cambridge (U.S.A.)
My research primarily concerns representation theory and mathematical physics. My work on Kac-Moody algebras and Lie superalgebras has been instrumental in the development of conformal field theory and string theory.
My determinant formula has been applied to the study of critical phenomena.
My method of lambda-brackets has been extensively used in the theory of integrable Hamiltonian PDE. I hope that my work on infinite-dimensional linearly compact Lie superalgebras will one day shed a new light on models of the theory of elementary particles.
I published 4 books and over 200 research articles in mathematics and physics scientific journals.
